Winterset Cidery is nestled in the rolling hills of Madison County, Iowa, approximately 30 minutes southwest of Des Moines. This area also lists the famed “Covered Bridges of Madison County,” as well as the new $2+ million John Wayne Museum among its attractions, along with several historical sites, wineries, museums, and other things to do and see. The Cidery is the first of its kind in Iowa built in a post and beam building adjacent to its apple orchard with over 30 varieties of heirloom, cider, and dessert apple trees. The site also boasts some beautiful scenery. The spacious tasting room at the Cidery is comfortable and informal with vaulted ceilings and wood floors, or you might enjoy the view of the orchard and country side from the roomy outside deck. It’s the perfect location to enjoy a taste of the heartland with a few of your friends or for gatherings and events.
